In an exemplary collaboration between Mayor Eduardo Monteiro de Abreu and Econew Sustainable Energy, nearly 3,000 trees were donated for planting in Várzea da Palma. This socio-environmental initiative arose from EcoNew’s achievement in the “Race Across America” (RAAM), covering 3,000 miles from the west to the east coast of the United States in 2023.
Conceived by EcoNew CEO Leonardo Simoes Zica, the project committed to planting 1 native tree sapling for every mile traveled, culminating not only in the completion of the challenge but also in winning first place in the race.
This partnership between public and private sectors demonstrates a joint commitment to sustainability and the environment, generating tangible benefits for the community and the local ecosystem.
