A team composed of researchers and students from the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV) and engineers from EcoNew carried out field work at the end of July to collect information and analyze the development of bamboo species, in the municipalities of Várzea da Palma and Lassance, along North of Minas Gerais. The species were planted in the first half of this year, in eight areas, with different soil and climate conditions, in the two municipalities. This project opens up space for the use of bamboo in the clean energy matrix and is a partnership between EcoNew, the Brazilian Industrial Research and Innovation Company (EMBRAPII) and the Fibras Florestais Unit linked to the Department of Forestry Engineering at UFV.
